The Chrysler Corporation launched the 70 Challenger a year before in 1969. From that time onwards this power packed machine had been a super hot choice among both people who are passionate about collecting powerful cars and also those who were looking to buy an everyday traveling vehicle.

The 1970 Challenger had a posh and luxurious interior coupled up with an immense and powerful engine, which was indeed an appealing combination. It came to the market to vie with the existing Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang. Based on the Plymouth Barracuda style the 1970 Dodge Challenger had a very large wheelbase which in turn meant more interior space. It came in two stunning styles, one with a hard top and one with the great convertible option. Both the models were astounding.

The hardtop model was manufactured by Dodge as a single body mode. This feature only came with the Trans am, challenger V8 and Challenger 6 models. The convertible on the other hand was available only with the road and track series. The basic model came with a single engine with dimensions 3.7 liter six cylinder and two hundred and twenty five cubic inches. One had a choice of upgrading the engine to a 5.2 liter V8 and three hundred and eighteen cubic inches. This model was proficient in giving 230 horsepower. There were also models which had an even more powerful and robust engine with elements 6.3 liter V8 along with three hundred and eight three cubic inches and had 290 horsepower. Those who had a taste for power went in for a V8 engine.

The road and track models were really amazing in terms of performance. They had a basic engine which was the 383 CID magnum which could give up to 335 horsepower. These models had no other option but that of using a 3 speed manual transmission as they had the problem of intense fall in compression.

In comparison with its counterparts the 1970 Challenger was a much better machine. The 1970 Dodge Challenger came in an array of styles and in different lovely hues. The engine parts of this 70 challenger were easily available which was another reason for its huge popularity. But what made this machine a true star was it’s superb mind blowing drive. Which is why it is so admired even today.
