In 1967, Plymouth made profound changes to its popular Barracuda series. The 67 Barracuda was the first car of the second generation that Plymouth produced of this eye catching pony car. The Plymouth Barracuda is recognized as one of the finest muscle cars to ever be produced.

For the second generation, the Barracuda received a much larger wheelbase in comparison to the first generation models. In comparison with the first generation, the second generation of the Barracuda was available not only as a 2-door fastback coupe, but also as a far 2-door notchback coupe as well as a 2-door convertible. This added two new body styles to the Barracuda series, which also gained huge popularity among car buyers. Besides the body styles, Plymouth also expanded the amount of engines that were available. The smallest engine was a V-6 3.7 liter, while the largest engine available for a Barracuda of this generation was a 7.2 liter V-8. All in all, there were six different engine options available for the customers.

The 1967 Barracuda shared the body platform, called “A-body”, with other models that Plymouth produced, such as the Plymouth Valiant. This was also previously the case, but due to the rise in popularity of the Barracuda, Plymouth tried very hard to differentiate the two cars in the customers eyes for the second generation of Barracudas. Given that the Plymouth Valiant and the Plymouth Barracuda were also competing for customers, the scenario where each car was targeting similar demographics had to be changed. This was a rather successful endeavor, as many markets started accepting them as two completely different cars and buying decision were made accordingly

Another car that was often times is mentioned in the same breath as the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda is the Dodge Dart and the Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang was a car that Plymouth consistently tried to attack with their Barracuda series, sometime even changing release dates of their models to beat Ford to the market.

The 67 Barracuda was, as all of its preceding models, very successful on the race track. Given its low entry price, the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda was very popular among younger drivers. Even until this day you can often times find people who are willing to put in the time and the effort to rebuild an old 1967 Plymouth Barracuda in order to experience this amazing car for themselves.
