65 Fairlane
When it comes to the 65 Fairlane it seemed that things took a very dramatic turn for the American car manufacturer. This new model when compared to previous models would be very much superior. It had a very nice interior design and when we’re talking about HP, it was enough to leave any fan in search for high speeds pleased. Thus if you were looking to have your adrenaline levels ramped up to the max, the 1965 Ford Fairlane would definitely turn the trick.
For this year’s version of the Fairlane the things that were retained from the previous model were the rooflines only. Straight edged and more angular panels featuring a hint of a mid body belt line kick up successfully replaced the slight curvatures that could be found in the 1962 to 1964 models. This proved to be a very nice decision the engineers had made because it would make the car look more serious and more appealing overall. The horizontal grille bars would be featured on the car’s new front end and could be found above a slimmer bumper while, encased in rectangular bezels which was in the same theme color as the car’s body, were the car’s headlights.
Talking about technical details, 14 inch wheels were a new thing to be introduced with this year’s model and the wheelbase was set up to 116 inches. When it came to the engine, the 170 CID 6 and 260 CID V8s were totally removed for they weren’t of any use any longer. Thus rated at 120 HP was the new 200 CID engine which would be the standard to be found on all the models Ford released this year. When it came to the top engine Ford had in store for its top models, this was the 271 HP 289 V8 engine. Thus there was also another engine to come into the to the fray and this one was the 2 barrel versions of the aforementioned and it was topped to 200 HP. Now that was really some serious power for that day and age.
Thus the 1963 Ford Fairlane proved that it can easily compare itself to top producers like Plymouth and Chevrolet and produce some amazing street machines. If you had one of these babies, then you really know how amazing this year’s model truly was
