The 73 Challenger had more or less a similar exterior like that of the 1972 model. Only a small number of changes were done here and there. The front bumpers were replaced by new ones mainly because of implementation of new laws. The novel bumper was strong enough to take on bigger impact without any kind of smash up. These bumpers in the 1973 Challenger had a heavy look and jutted out far away from the automobile. The rallye was not anymore a proper model but just came in an alternate package if someone wanted to improvise the basic model.

The air ducts fitted with the front fenders was something which came as a request from the previous model. The basic models were given a makeover with help of a tinted accent stripe that looked really sharp. The 1973 Dodge Challenger was made available in an array of tones ranging from bright red, dark silver, honey gold, top banana, autumn bronze, bright blue, pale green, dark gold, light blue and many more. The gold shade for the top which came in the 1971 model was brought back by the company for the 1973 Challenger.

Changes in terms of interiors were also not much. The seats were now more snug and comfortable all thanks to the alterations done. One could choose from shades dark green, white, black and blue for the interior of the 1973 Dodge Challenger. When we talk about the wheel part in this model only fourteen inch lot was made available by Dodge. Some of the alternatives available for this model also included body sill moldings, a floor console, an air conditioner, a defroster for the back window and not to forget the light package.

The engine with six cylinders and two hundred and twenty five cubic inches was discontinued from this year. The three hundred and eighteen engine was now the basic one. However one also had a choice to go in for the three hundred and forty 4 bbl. Electronic ignition was now found in all Challenger engines and also the exhaust valves were really hard, so that working with unleaded petrol was easy.

The 73 Challenger though was not much different from its previous models but still had its own charm and beauty which lured many car enthusiasts.
