The 64 Mustang is a classic in the American muscle car scene. This was and still is one of today’s most famous cars ever to be built. It’s just simply a legend! This car was one of the biggest engineering realizations that Ford has ever come up with. It had the mean looks and it had the mean power to back those looks up. It did not matter if you were a fan of Ford or you were a Plymouth, Chevy, or Pontiac fan to the bone, this car had a mesmerizing effect on everyone who saw at its shiny lines and appealing exterior.

The Ford Mustang had its blueprint originally copied from that of the Ford Falcon and it was not of any surprise that it had some major resemblances to it. Thus the one who was responsible with the Mustang project was Donald N Frey and he was the head engineer of this amazing new project Ford had crafted. So it was that the first prototype of this legendary car was the 2 door and 2 seat roadster which featured a mid mounted engine at that time. The engine back then was a V4 model and when it came to resemblances, it had striking features that would remind one of the Pontiac Fiero in a small way.

But it was later on, more specifically 2 years later, that news was circulating regarding the abandonment of the Mustang project. But even though this news was hard to digest, the project did not cease and it was soon to be announced that the first Mustang model was to hit the market.

This car managed to sell a whooping 100000 units just in the first year of its debut. But that was nothing compared to the number that would pop in the next 3 months from the rollout. There were an additional 318,000 cars sold which was at that time a record and during an eighteen months period, there were a total of over 1 million Mustangs built.

Not bad for a model that almost had the plugged pulled!
