62 Corvette
The 62 Corvette went through many subtle changes but many were not noticeable to the naked eye.
The price of the car may have been a little expensive for some and it is the first time a Corvette crossed the $4000 barrier and thus the car reached a cost of $4038. While the heater came as an optional choice for older models, with the 1962 model this came as a standard feature, which really made consumers extremely happy. Nevertheless, this could be removed if you were going to have your car used for racing purposes, and you did not have to pay for it.
If the styling of the C1 generation looked kind of outdated, this was no longer a problem with the final version of the car. One of the best and smartest improvements was to have the chrome outline which was circling the body side coves, removed.
When it came to the engine, the 283 BHP engine was molded such that its dimensions were brought down to 4 by 3.25 inches and the displacement was also brought up to 327 cid. This type of engine would be available in any of the Corvette cars up until 1965 and it really proved to be a powerful and reliable engine.
When it came to the extra torque and power of the large V8, the car had sported out a nice time of 15 seconds in the quarter mile with a speed of more than 100 mph. If you had the appropriate options woven out for the Corvette, you could have a very nice car on your hands. Thus the car would be a fierce competitor even if you would only have some minor modifications done to it.
The 62 model would end a significant chapter in the Corvette history. This is because in 1963, the new Corvette would undergo some serious modifications. These changes would become a vital part of the Corvette legacy going forward.
