For the 61 Corvette there were numerous changes made to help ensure that Americans looked at the Corvette in entirely new way. On previous models there were some design and, engine problems which were ultimately fixed, but many consumers were not sure if these problems would carry over to the new model.

Nonetheless, when it came to the rear of this car it was redesigned and it was the most obvious change in this year’s model. It was like looking at a ducktail and many buyers were used to calling it that, mocking it in a way. But it wasn’t only the ducktail that could be used as an aesthetic detail, more space for luggage was also woven out because of the back tail. Thus there was a 20 percent increase in luggage space.

Considering the tail further on, it featured some small rail lamps which were round in shape and were dispersed on each side of the central license plate.

At the back end of the car the pre-existing four lamp nose was also taken in for some changes, and it resulted in a cleaner version of it after the designers decided to give it a different approach.

You could also see a new body color when it came to the headlight bezels and the vertical trademark teeth were replaced by a nice insert of a horizontal mesh which was finished in silver. A notable detail about the 1961 Corvette is that it was the last model available which featured coves on its body side which were of a contrasting hue. This was around $16 and many consumers showed interest in this feature.

The price for this particular model was $3934 and the standard features which included sun visors, a controller radiator fan which was thermostatically controlled, windshield washers, and a parking brake warning light. If you wanted to get a heater, that was not included in the base price, but you could still have it for just $102. Even though you weren’t offered power steering in the standard model, air conditioning and power brakes, you could still be satisfied with the “Wonder Bar” AM radio which was a signal seeking model.

When it came to the car’s cockpit, one mentionable change was the fact that it sported out an improved transmission tunnel which overall provided the interior of the car with more space. You could have it in four different color schemes including fawn, red, black and blue.
