The Impala series had made Chevrolet really stand out on the auto market because they managed to offer a car which was both safe and reliable and it also didn’t sport out high prices. Because of this, the Impala line became extremely popular. With the 68 Impala and previous models, Chevrolet changed the way people looked at cars in general because they were among the firsts to have developed some high HP engines which could ramp out a lot of power without cutting down on your pocket.

What the new 68 Impala featured in commercials and brochures was the classic roofline which really caused a stir among buyers. The commercials featuring copy which claimed that there is “nothing on the road which is distinctively more stylish” which proved to be quite persuasive enough to have people running for their own 1968 Impala.

Again the options this new car came with were still pretty nice and they included an electric clock ashtray and courtesy lights, fancier door panels and seats and also a front center armrest. You could also spot the caprice carpeting on the door bottoms and kick panels.

This year’s model was promoted in commercials as “the grand Chevrolet” and because of the fact the new Caprices were advertised a lot, they soon claimed their spot in the American people’s psyche replacing the Impala with ease.

But with the new model the windows were lacking in vent panes but overall it had a great visibility and no problems were reported by the buyers. Also you would not have to open your window for a breath of fresh air because the Astro Ventilation System was promoted to keep the air fresh inside the car. One good thing is that almost every Chevrolet had a hidden wiper which proved to come in handy most of the time. If you shelled out another $79 you could have retractable headlights.

If you wanted to have a full sized car, you were in for a 250 CID 6 and a 307 CID V8 by either opting for a pair of 327s or for a 325 HP 396 CID V8. On top of the list though was the 427 which could sport out a massive 385 HP or 425 HP.
