Although the two model years appear to be identical in many ways, those who know a thing or two about the Chevelle lineup of cars know that this is not exactly the case.

The body of the 69 Chevelle was the same as the prior year. That being said, its new good looks came from a change to the grille, headlamp bezels, tail lights, and other minor upgrades. These changes may not sound like a big deal, but anytime the grille and headlamps of a car are altered it is bound to appear a bit different – and that is exactly what happened with the 1969 Chevelle.

The 1969 Chevelle was made available to the public in several trim levels including: the Chevelle 300, Chevelle Nomad, Chevelle Malibu, Chevelle Concourse, and the popular 1969 Chevelle SS . While many of these models can be considered classics, some stand out above the rest. In today’s day and age, collectors are always on the lookout for a restored SS396.

Each of the trim levels above came with either a V6 or V8 engine. The only exception was the SS396 which could only be ordered with the V8. Body styles included: 2 door wagon, 4 door wagon, 4 door sedan, 2 door convertible, 2 door sedan, and 2 door sport coupe.

One of the biggest benefits of the 1969 Chevelle was the number of exterior colors that were available. They included: Midnight Teal Metallic, Tuxedo Black, Grotto Blue Metallic, Ermine White, Island Teal Metallic, Fathom Blue Metallic, Lemans Blue Metallic, Ash Gold Metallic, Cordovan Maroon Metallic, Grecian Green Metallic, Autumn Bronze Metallic, Rallye Green Metallic, Butternut Yellow, Tripoli Turquoise Metallic, Teal Blue, Metallic, Burnished Saddle Metallic, Corvette Bronze Metallic, Seafrost Green Metallic, Verdoro Green Metallic, Matador Red, Jade Gold Metallic, Palomino Ivory, Silver Beige Mist Metallic, Sequoia Green Metallic, Buckskin, and Inca Silver Mist Metallic.

Interior color options also varied greatly to include: light green, dark blue, black, red, parchment, saddle, and dark metallic green. Bucket and bench seats were available in all of these colors.

The base engine in the 1969 Chevelle was a powerful V6. Of course, those interested in more horsepower had the option of upgrading to a V8 big block with 325, 350, or 375 horsepower. Both manual and automatic transmissions were available.

Chevrolet produced approximately 503,000 1969 Chevelles.

While this question is not always easy to answer, one thing is for sure: the 1970 Chevelle ss is one of the most sought after. Although the Chevelle was manufactured from 1964 to 1977, some of the model years receive more attention than the others – this is where the car from 1970 comes into play.

As the 1970’s began, muscle cars in America really began to take off. Chevy was at the forefront of this movement, and looking back it is easy to see that they were quite successful in most of their efforts. With the help of the 1970 Chevelle, the muscle car era of the 1970’s got off to a great start. Even in today’s day and age, car lovers can see just how far ahead of the times this car really was.

Of course, some versions of the 70 Chevelle are considered better than the rest. That being said, all of them have a lot to offer. The 70 Chevelle SS 454 is what many people think about when it comes to class muscle cars of the early 70’s. With a 454-cid V-8 this car packed 360 bhp. This was one of the best muscle cars every bit – no wonder it is considered a classic by many.

What makes the 1970 Chevelle so different than those that came before it? First things first, the car received a new design and a more powerful engine. Just like any new car, design and power are very important. When compared to Chevelles from 1964 to 1969, it was easy to see that this one took a giant step forward.

Even though the SS 454 package cost an additional $503, it was a popular upgrade. As you can imagine, this is the version of the 1970 Chevelle that many people are searching for. Believe it or not, no production engine ever had a higher horsepower rating. Again, this is the car that really started the muscle car revolution.

At the time, the base price of a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 was $3,800. This car in today’s world, if in good condition, will sell for many times the original price.

With a 450 horsepower V-8, this car can go from 0-60 in 6.1 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds at 103 miles per hour.

The 1970 Chevelle was the first real muscle car of the decade. Over the years this car has continued to be a favorite, and is now considered a classic.

Although Chevrolet has manufactured many classics, this one holds a soft spot in the heart of many Americans. The Chevelle debuted in 1964, and the last model came off the assembly line in 1977. Although every year had its following, the 72 Chevelle ss model is one that stands out in the mind of many people for a number of reasons. This car is truly a classic.

The base Chevelle sport coupe of 1972 was and still is known as the “Heavy Chevy.” With special striping and other appearance features making it stick out among the crowd, this is one car that is truly unique. The car was offered with several engine options including the V8 307 two barrel as well as the V8 402 four barrel. Even though the four barrel is more desirable among today’s collectors, the two barrel is a classic in its own right.

The 72 Chevelle also came in an SS package. If you really want to find the Chevelle from this year that is a classic, this is the trim line that you want to keep your eyes out for. This car had a top engine rated at 270 net hp. All the other engines in this car in 1972 were carried over from the previous year. The 454 big block in the 1972 Chevelle SS is one of the most well known engines of all time. It is safe to say that Chevy hit the nail on the head when they decided to add a 454 big block to the 1972 Chevelle in the form of an SS.

At the time, many families were choosing the 1972 Chevelle ss because of its low cost of operation, and of course, good looks. At the time there was no way of knowing that this car was one day going to become a classic. A car with enough room to seat five in comfort was a big hit in the 70’s – this helped to make the Chevelle a big seller for nearly 15 years.

Common convenience items in the 1972 Chevy Chevelle included: air conditioning, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, vinyl top, and stereo radio.

The 1972 version of the Chevelle is one of the most popular years in this car’s history. A lot of this has to do with the SS model that packed a 454 big block.
