The 63 Plymouth would again prove to be a great addition to Plymouths already legendary car productions. The designers at Plymouth decided to take greater care when it came to this year’s model and thus they invested a greater effort for the sole purpose of getting all of those details, which were not fixed with previous releases modified. Thus they looked at the engine numbers and the interior of the car and decided that it would be the best time to have things changed around in these sections. After all was said and done, the car reached the market and it would prove to be a big hit with both consumers and car magazines alike.

The 1963 model would feature a greater wheelbase which went up to 119 inch. Under the hood of this amazing car you could find the jaw breaking 426 CID engine which was very imposing. This new engine that Plymouth had been charging up against other competitors would be one of their best engines and it was thus used in a great array of its car models.

But this engine was basically just a 413 and Plymouth just had it renamed as the Super Stock and sister company Dodge decided it would be better to have it renamed as the Ram Charger. The elements which would be retained would be the head exhaust and the Dual Carter 4 barrels. But when it came to taking things to a higher level, the 426 got some improvements and thus it was engineered to go up to 415 BHP while maintaining a compression level of 11.0:1, and also 425 BHP whilst compression would reach 13.5:1. There were also some third generation 425 BHP engines which had a compression level of 12.5:1, recast heads and larger bore carburetors.

Transmission type was automatic and it was a heavy duty TorqueFlite featuring the push button gear selection. If this would prove to be just not enough for you the other one available would be the floor mounted 3 speed manual. There weren’t any 4 speed options available yet and the only available axle ratios would be ranging from 2.93:1 to 4.89:1.

Plymouth had the 426 Wedge incorporated in all of its full sized models, from Savoy to the luxurious Sport Fury.
