When it comes to the 1967 GTO, this was one of the most beautiful muscle cars that was ever built. The designers from Pontiac added some unique but simple polished chain link grille inserts to the unique nose of the new 67 model. The tail was also well taken care of and the lamps were cleaned up while some of the edges were also sculpted to look better. The Pontiac designers really did a great job with this year’s model and they managed to improve on the prvious year’s popular GTO making it look even better.

But the new 67 GTO had something up its sleeve which made it better. It featured a new 400 CID enlargement of the previous 389 CID V8. With this 4 barrel carburetor the base model reached 335 HP and when it came to the compression ratio, it was left untouched. Removing the 360 HP slot from the discontinued tri carburetor rig was a new single 4 barrel high output option which would cost you an extra 77 dollars and it provided a camshaft which was higher lifted, an open element air cleaner and free flow exhaust manifolds.

The total number of GTOs that was built reached 81722 and out of these, 13827 had been equipped with the HO engine. If you had the appropriate money and could afford even some more options, then for another 263 dollars you could have the Pontiac GTO’s HO mill fitted with Ram Air. These GTO V8s featured powerful, strong valve springs and also a longer duration valve cam, but at 360 HP, they were underrated.

When it comes to the Ram Air package, it consisted out of hardware which would deal with the non-functional hood scoops and also a pan which was useful because it would go around the open element air cleaner and it would be mated to the hood using a foam rubber skirt.

The Ram Air option was applied to 751 cars but the scoop and pan parts were delivered in the car’s trunk, letting the deal take care of the installation process. During wet weather the owner was to refit the closed scoop hardware.

Available transmissions for the 1967 Pontiac GTO were 3 speed and the 4 speed manual ones and both of them had Hurst shifters featured. If you would choose to have it ordered with a center console, the gear lever would be moved from the steering column to the floor.
